Kharian is often called the Little Scandinavia of Pakistan, and the nickname is earned: a large share of Pakistani Norwegians and Danish Pakistanis originate from the tehsil, remittances make up a significant portion of its income, and it is frequently described as the wealthiest tehsil in the country. If you are flying in from Oslo or Copenhagen by way of the Gulf, this is your transfer.
Sialkot International is the natural airport for it. A routing site puts the drive at about 67 km and roughly one hour six minutes; that is a third-party estimate rather than an authority figure, and no authority publishes a road distance for this pair. Kharian itself sits on the N-5 Grand Trunk Road.
The motorway that is coming, and is not here
There is a direct motorway being built between this airport and Kharian, and it is worth knowing about precisely because it is not open yet. The M-12 runs 69 km from Sambrial, where the M-11 terminates by the airport, to Kharian: six lanes, a 120 km/h design speed, five interchanges and a one-kilometre bridge over the Chenab. It has been under construction since July 2022, was still unfinished as of April 2026, and has been revived as a priority project.
Until it opens the journey is a Grand Trunk Road journey, and we quote it as one. When it opens, the airport and Kharian will be a single motorway run and this page will change.
What a Kharian arrival actually looks like
Late, and heavy. Sialkot takes Gulf wide-bodies from Dubai, Jeddah, Doha, Sharjah, Muscat, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Kuwait City, and the traffic is overwhelmingly returning families rather than business travellers. The practical consequence is baggage: a family of five or six with the full checked allowance does not fit a seven-seat SUV, because the third row occupies the boot. Count the cases and we will size the vehicle to them.
The other consequence is timing. Nobody arriving at two in the morning wants to negotiate with a driver in a car park, and app coverage in the surrounding districts thins out badly at that hour. A driver waiting inside arrivals with your name, whose photograph and vehicle registration you already have, is the whole product on this route.
The wider corridor
Kharian is one stop on a corridor rather than an isolated town. Gujrat, Dina, Jhelum, Sarai Alamgir and the villages between them all sit along the same GT Road stretch, and a great many families have relatives in more than one of them. Multiple drops are normal on this route and they are much cheaper planned than improvised, so tell us all the addresses when you book.
The M-13 Kharian to Rawalpindi motorway, 117 km with eight interchanges, a Jhelum river bridge and twin-tube tunnels through the Salt Range between Dina and Sohawa, has been under construction since September 2022. Together with the M-12 it would eventually put Kharian on a continuous motorway between Sialkot airport and Rawalpindi. Neither road is open.
Kharian is in Punjab, with no travel advisory
Kharian, Gujrat, Jhelum and Dina are all in Punjab and carry no UK travel restriction. If your journey continues across the river into Azad Kashmir — Mirpur, Dadyal, Chakswari — that leg carries advice against all but essential travel, checked 1 September 2026, and we will say so before you book rather than after.
Enter your exact pickup address and Pakistan-local time to see the fare and book. You pay at secure checkout, and your card is only charged once the vehicle and driver are confirmed.

Which vehicle actually fits
These model examples do not confirm the capacity or availability of a particular vehicle. Give the passenger count and the number and size of bags, and check the approved vehicle variation before confirmation.
- Suzuki WagonR 3 passengers, 2 cases Short city transfers on a budget. The tall boot helps more than the engine does.
- Toyota Yaris or Corolla 3 to 4 passengers, 2 to 3 large cases The workhorse. City work, airport transfers and the motorway run between Lahore and Islamabad.
- Honda BR-V 5 passengers with luggage, or 7 with almost none Family airport transfers on paved routes. The third row eats the boot, so it suits children or short hops rather than seven adults with cases. Not a mountain vehicle.
- Toyota Fortuner 5 passengers with full luggage, 7 travelling light For a mountain itinerary, confirm the actual vehicle variation, drivetrain and current route suitability before booking.
- Toyota Land Cruiser 4 to 5 passengers with full luggage Confirm the actual vehicle variation, passenger and luggage fit, and current route suitability before booking.
- Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin 13 passengers plus the driver The group and family vehicle. Gulf arrivals into Sialkot and Peshawar with heavy luggage, tour groups, weddings, long intercity runs.
- Toyota Coaster 25 to 29 passengers with hold luggage For a group journey, confirm the actual vehicle capacity and whether the accepted fare includes tolls.
How booking works
- 01 Tell us the journey Where from, where to, when, how many of you and how much luggage. Precise addresses matter more than you would think, because a Rawalpindi address and an Islamabad address twenty minutes apart are very different journeys.
- 02 Review the fare or quote Where offered, online fares and written quotes show the journey and vehicle class they cover. Check tolls, waiting time and extras before you confirm.
- 03 Check your confirmed details Keep your booking reference or written quote. Confirm the vehicle, driver where applicable, and pickup or collection instructions before travel.
- 04 You travel Follow the confirmed meeting or collection instructions. Check the vehicle and, where a driver is provided, their identity before starting.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Sialkot airport from Kharian?
A routing site gives about 67 km and roughly one hour six minutes of driving. No authority publishes a road distance for this pair, so we present the third-party figure as what it is.
Why is Kharian called Little Scandinavia?
Because a large number of Pakistani Norwegians and Danish Pakistanis originate from the tehsil. Remittances make up a significant portion of its income and it is often described as the wealthiest tehsil in Pakistan.
Is there a motorway from the airport to Kharian?
Not yet. The M-12 will run 69 km from Sambrial, at the M-11 terminus by the airport, to Kharian, with six lanes, five interchanges and a one-kilometre Chenab bridge. It has been under construction since July 2022 and was still unfinished as of April 2026. Today the journey uses the Grand Trunk Road.
Can you collect at two or three in the morning?
Yes, and most Gulf arrivals into Sialkot are at that hour. Send the flight number and the scheduled arrival with your request.
Can you drop at more than one address?
Yes. Multiple drops along the Kharian, Gujrat, Dina and Jhelum corridor are normal and much better planned than arranged on the night. Give us every address when you book.
What vehicle do we need?
Tell us the number of cases rather than the number of passengers. A family of six with full checked baggage from the Gulf is a Grand Cabin, which carries thirteen passengers plus the driver, not a seven-seat SUV.
Is there a travel advisory for Kharian?
No. Kharian is in Punjab and carries no UK travel restriction. Azad Kashmir across the river does carry advice against all but essential travel, checked 1 September 2026.
Can you take us on to Mirpur from Kharian?
Yes. Tell us before you book, because that leg crosses into Azad Kashmir and we will set out the travel advice and the insurance position first.
Which airlines fly into Sialkot?
Nine carriers: AirSial, Emirates, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Air Arabia, flyadeal, SalamAir, Fly Jinnah and PIA, serving the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
What is the toll?
We have not found a published rate for this route and will not invent one. Tolls are folded into the fixed price you’re shown before you pay, even on routes where the toll authority hasn’t published an official rate.
Will I know who is driving?
Yes. The driver’s photograph and the vehicle registration are sent to you before the flight lands, and the driver meets you inside arrivals.
Is the price fixed?
Yes, the moment you pay, for the journey as described including every drop you listed.
Tell us the journey and we will price it
Send the route, date, passenger count and luggage details. We will show an available live price or prepare a quote with the vehicle class and terms it assumes. Check the final offer before confirming; if the journey is unavailable, we will tell you.
