Most of the confusion about what a car with a driver costs in Pakistan is not about the headline number. It is about what the number covers. Two quotes that look ten per cent apart can be forty per cent apart by the time the journey is over, and the gap is almost always in the small print about hours, fuel and the driver.
This page sets out exactly what is inside our chauffeur fare, what sits outside it, and the five things that genuinely move a price.
What is inside the fare
A chauffeur fare with us covers four things:
- Fuel. All of it, for the whole journey, whatever it costs on the day.
- Tolls. Motorway and highway tolls on the route are ours to pay.
- Parking. Including airport parking on a pick-up.
- The driver and his pay. His wage for the job is in the fare, not something you settle at the end.
That is deliberately a short list, because it is the list that removes the arguments. You are not handing money over at a toll plaza, you are not filling the tank at Kallar Kahar, and you are not working out what to give the driver at the door.
It matters more than it sounds. Motorway tolls in Pakistan are not trivial and they move: the National Highway Authority’s revised car rates from 10 July 2026 put the Islamabad-Lahore M-2 at Rs 1,430 and the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan M-4 at Rs 1,350 (PakWheels, Dawn). On a long intercity run, tolls plus fuel is not a rounding error on the quote. It is a meaningful part of it, and on our fares it has already been counted.
What is charged separately
Four things sit outside the fare. All four are knowable in advance, and none of them appear as a surprise.
Waiting beyond the agreed allowance. Every booking has a waiting allowance agreed at the quoting stage, sized to the job. Time beyond that allowance is charged. If you know you will be an hour in a meeting with the car held outside, say so when you book and we will price it in rather than bill it afterwards.
A night surcharge for travel between 22:00 and 06:00. Overnight driving is a different job. It is harder on the driver, it requires more rest either side, and it is priced accordingly.
Changes after the quote. If the route, the stops or the timing change once the price is fixed, the price changes with them. Adding a city, adding two hours, or adding a detour to collect someone is a different journey from the one we quoted.
On bookings over 24 hours, the driver’s accommodation and meals. For each night the driver is away from base, his accommodation and meals are charged. Accommodation is given as an estimate, and it is confirmed in writing before you travel. If you house the driver yourself — a spare room at the farmhouse, a bed at the hotel you are already booking — that charge is waived.
None of these are hidden. They are the four places where a private-hire job legitimately costs more, and we would rather show them to you before you book than after.
A hire day is 24 hours
This is the single most important line on the page.
A hire day with us is 24 hours from pick-up. Not a shift, not a working day. The same definition applies to self-drive.
That is not how the Pakistani market usually works, and you should know it when comparing quotes. Lahore operators commonly publish 12 hours as the standard daily rental period (Rent a Car in Pakistan). One Lahore firm states that its quoted prices include a driver and 12-hour city service, with full-day service reserved for outstation trips (SAF Tours). A Karachi operator offers chauffeur-driven service in half-day blocks of 10 or 12 hours, while its self-drive minimum is a full 24 (TS Car Rentals).
The consequence is arithmetic, not opinion. If a headline rate buys 12 hours and your day runs to 16, four hours are overtime. One operator publishes that overtime openly at Rs 100 per hour after 12 hours (Admire Pakistan). Others do not publish it at all, which is worse — you find out at the end.
So when you collect quotes, ask the same question of everyone before you ask the price: how many hours is a day, and what happens after them.
The market norm on fuel and the driver, and why we do it differently
The second thing worth comparing honestly is what the base rate excludes.
Across the Pakistani market, fuel is usually the customer’s. One Lahore operator lists “Fuel and toll” plainly as “Not Included” (Rent a Car in Pakistan). Another states that chauffeur drive daily, weekly and monthly rates do not include gasoline (Admire Pakistan). A Karachi operator runs a same-to-same fuel policy and notes that fuel and toll taxes are managed by the client unless an all-inclusive package is requested (TS Car Rentals).
The driver’s food is usually the customer’s too, and it is often itemised. For outstation trips, one operator states that “toll taxes, car fuel, driver food, and accommodations are excluded from the car rent” (Rent a Car in Pakistan). Another publishes driver meals at Rs 500 in Lahore and Rs 2,000 outstation (SAF Tours). A third publishes Rs 1,000 a night if the vehicle is stationed overnight outside the rented city, Rs 500 for an outstation trip returning the same day, and a further Rs 500 if the vehicle checks in after midnight (Admire Pakistan). A Karachi guide notes that driver meal and accommodation allowances for overnight or outstation trips are usually the client’s responsibility (Karachi Rent Car).
That is the market, described accurately and without complaint. It is a legitimate way to price, and for some customers it is cheaper.
Our approach differs in two specific places. Fuel and tolls are in the fare rather than out of it, so a long day does not become a bigger bill. And the driver’s food is in his pay for a day trip; it is only on bookings running over 24 hours, where he is genuinely away from base overnight, that meals and accommodation are charged as a separate line. That line is an estimate, confirmed in writing, and waived if you house him.
The honest summary is not “we are cheaper”. It is that our number is closer to the number you will actually pay. When you compare our car rental in Pakistan quote with a 12-hour, fuel-excluded rate, you are not comparing two prices for the same thing.
What actually moves the price
Five things, in roughly the order they matter.
Distance. The dominant factor on any intercity job, because it drives fuel, tolls and the driver’s hours all at once.
Vehicle class. A saloon, a seven-seat MPV and a high-clearance 4×4 are different fuel bills and different assets. On mountain routes the vehicle is often decided by the road rather than the passenger count, and that changes the price.
Time of day. Travel between 22:00 and 06:00 carries a night surcharge. Peak-hour city work costs more in time than in distance.
Waiting. Held time is the most common reason a real invoice differs from an expected one. It is also the easiest thing to price correctly in advance if you tell us the plan.
One-way versus return. A one-way drop still has to get the car and driver home. That empty return leg is real cost, which is why a one-way fare is rarely half a return fare.
How to book a car with driver
We do not publish live fares. Rates move with fuel, with toll revisions and with vehicle availability, and a stale number on a web page is worse than no number.
So the process is: tell us the route, the dates and times, how many passengers and how much luggage, and whether the car is being held anywhere. We quote in writing. The written quote states the vehicle class, what is included, the waiting allowance, and any night surcharge or driver-accommodation estimate that applies. Once it is accepted, the price is fixed unless you change the journey.
You can start that on our booking page. The more precisely you describe the day, the less there is to settle at the end of it.
Common questions
How much is car rental with driver in Pakistan?
It depends on distance, vehicle class, time of day, waiting and whether the trip is one-way or return, so there is no single figure. We do not publish live fares; we quote in writing against your actual route and dates, and once you accept it the price is fixed unless the journey changes.
Is fuel included in a car with driver?
In our chauffeur fares, yes — fuel, tolls, parking and the driver’s pay are all inside the price. Across the wider Pakistani market this is not the norm: several operators publish rates that explicitly exclude fuel and toll taxes, so check this before comparing two quotes.
How long is a hire day?
Twenty-four hours from pick-up, for chauffeur and self-drive alike. Many operators in Pakistan use a 12-hour day with overtime after it, so a headline rate built on 12 hours is not comparable with one built on 24.
Do I pay for the driver's food and hotel?
Not on a booking of 24 hours or less. On bookings running longer than 24 hours, his accommodation and meals are charged for each night away from base. The accommodation figure is an estimate and is confirmed in writing beforehand, and it is waived if you provide the driver with a room yourself.
What is the night surcharge?
A surcharge applies to travel between 22:00 and 06:00. It is shown in the written quote before you book, so it is never a line you discover afterwards.
How do I book a car with driver?
Send us the route, dates, times, passenger and luggage numbers, and any waiting you expect. We return a written quote naming the vehicle class and everything included. Accept it and the price is fixed; change the route, stops or timing afterwards and it is re-quoted.
