What we commit to

Karachi is a city where the answer to “how long will that take” is a range rather than a number, and the range is wide. The same 22 km run from the airport to DHA takes fifty minutes or ninety depending only on when you set off. Any transport plan here that does not start with the clock is not a plan.

The spine of it is Shahrah-e-Faisal: 18 km from Star Gate at the airport to the Bhutto Underpass near Hotel Metropole, carrying about 250,000 vehicles a day and identified in cited injury research as the city’s deadliest road. Congestion peaks between 07:00 and 09:00 and again between 16:00 and 19:00, and most journeys across the city touch it somewhere.

What you can and cannot take

Rickshaws are banned from twenty-five major roads including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Korangi Road under Section 144. On the corridors that actually matter, the realistic choices are a car or a motorcycle. That single rule removes the cheapest option from most of the journeys visitors want to make, and it is worth knowing before you plan around a fare you saw quoted for a three-wheeler.

The app market is inDrive, Yango and Bykea; Yango operates in Karachi and gives upfront fares, inDrive works by negotiation with no published car tariff, and Bykea is bike-led. Motorcycle ride-hailing operators raised fares by five to ten per cent in March 2026 after the fuel increase. Uber and Careem no longer run ride-hailing anywhere in Pakistan.

The districts, and what separates them

Karachi is not a city you cross casually. Saddar sits 15 to 18 km from the airport, Clifton 20 to 23 km and DHA 22 to 26 km, and the business districts, the consulates, the port and the industrial areas are spread across all of it. A day with three appointments in Clifton, one in SITE and one in DHA is a day of driving, and it is the reason most of our Karachi work is day hire rather than single rides.

Give the block and phase for DHA addresses and the street rather than the district everywhere else. It matters here more than in a planned city, because the difference between two addresses notionally in the same area can be twenty minutes of one-way systems.

Corporate and airport work

A large share of what we are asked for in Karachi is the same shape: a car and driver for a visiting colleague for two or three days, meeting them at Jinnah International and staying with them. That works because the airport is the eastern end of Shahrah-e-Faisal and almost every business address is somewhere along it, so the same driver who did the pickup already knows the day’s geography.

For the airport transfer itself, the practical arguments are the ones that apply to every Pakistani arrival: no tourist SIM counters in arrivals, cash machines that often decline foreign cards, and app options that need both. We meet passengers inside the terminal and send the driver’s photograph and the vehicle registration in advance.

Two hours you should avoid

07:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 19:00. If a meeting or a flight can be moved outside those windows, moving it will save more time than any route choice a driver can make.

Tell us the journey and we will price it. A submitted request is not a booking until availability, price and terms are confirmed.

The journey in figures

The one road that matters
Shahrah-e-Faisal, 18 km from Star Gate at the airport to the Bhutto Underpass, carrying around 250,000 vehicles a day
Peak hours
07:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 19:00
Same trip, different day
Airport to DHA can take 50 minutes or 90
Rickshaws
Banned from Shahrah-e-Faisal and 24 other major roads

On the main corridors the realistic choice is a car or a motorcycle, not a three-wheeler. If your journey crosses the city at either peak, say so when you enquire and we will build the time into the plan rather than discovering it on the day.

Every way of making this journey

We are one row in this table, and not the cheapest one. Here is what the alternatives actually cost and what each of them asks of you.

Option Typical cost Time What to know
inDrive or Yango Reported Rs 1,000 - 3,500 airport runs 30 to 90 min No fixed tariff on inDrive.
Bykea Varies Bikes and rickshaws. Not a luggage option, and barred from the main corridors.
iDrive.pk, car with a driver Quoted for your journey A fixed price once quoted, a vetted driver whose photo and vehicle registration you see before the journey, and a car sized to your party and luggage. Booked before you travel, so it does not depend on having a local SIM when you land.

Costs for other operators checked on August 31, 2026 and published from their own booking systems, official notices or named third-party sources. Fuel in Pakistan moved from Rs 264.61 a litre in September 2025 to Rs 343.10 by August 2026, so fares here move quickly. Treat these as a guide and confirm with the operator.

Which vehicle actually fits

Seat counts are the manufacturer figures. The passenger and luggage numbers beside them are what the vehicle carries in practice, with the cases people really travel with. If your party is near the limit, tell us the number of bags rather than the number of people, because that is what decides it.

  • Suzuki WagonR 3 passengers, 2 cases Short city transfers on a budget. The tall boot helps more than the engine does.
  • Toyota Yaris or Corolla 3 to 4 passengers, 2 to 3 large cases The workhorse. City work, airport transfers and the motorway run between Lahore and Islamabad.
  • Honda BR-V 5 passengers with luggage, or 7 with almost none Family airport transfers on paved routes. The third row eats the boot, so it suits children or short hops rather than seven adults with cases. Not a mountain vehicle.
  • Toyota Fortuner 5 passengers with full luggage, 7 travelling light Rough road and mountain work: Skardu, Hunza, Naran, Babusar. Ask for the diesel four-wheel-drive, because the petrol version is two-wheel-drive.
  • Toyota Land Cruiser 4 to 5 passengers with full luggage Protocol and expedition work, and a genuine choice for Skardu and Deosai. It returns 5 to 10 km a litre, which at Rs 343 a litre is the honest reason it costs what it costs.
  • Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin 13 passengers plus the driver The group and family vehicle. Gulf arrivals into Sialkot and Peshawar with heavy luggage, tour groups, weddings, long intercity runs.
  • Toyota Coaster 25 to 29 passengers with hold luggage Large groups, corporate shuttles and pilgrimage travel. Worth knowing that the motorway toll alone is Rs 3,350 each way against Rs 1,430 for a car.

How booking works

  1. 01 Tell us the journey Where from, where to, when, how many of you and how much luggage. Precise addresses matter more than you would think, because a Rawalpindi address and an Islamabad address twenty minutes apart are very different journeys.
  2. 02 We quote a fixed price One figure for the whole journey, with the vehicle class it assumes. If a motorway toll or a waiting period is part of it, you see that too.
  3. 03 You see the driver and the car Before the journey you get the driver photograph and the vehicle registration, so you know exactly who and what you are looking for.
  4. 04 You travel At an airport your driver waits inside arrivals with a name sign. Check the photograph and the registration plate against what we sent you before you get in.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to cross Karachi?

It depends on the hour more than the distance. The airport to DHA is 22 to 26 km and takes fifty to ninety minutes. Peaks are 07:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 19:00.

Can I take a rickshaw?

Not on the main roads. Rickshaws are banned from twenty-five major roads including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Korangi Road under Section 144.

Which apps operate in Karachi?

inDrive, Yango and Bykea. Yango gives upfront fares, inDrive works by negotiation with no published car tariff, and Bykea is bike-led. Motorcycle ride-hailing fares rose five to ten per cent in March 2026.

Do Uber or Careem work in Karachi?

No. Uber left Pakistan on 30 April 2024 and Careem suspended ride-hailing on 18 July 2025.

Can I book a car and driver for several days?

Yes, and for business visitors it is the usual arrangement. The same driver meets the flight and stays with you, which saves rebuilding the geography every morning.

How far is the airport from Clifton and DHA?

Clifton is 20 to 23 km and DHA 22 to 26 km, almost all of it along Shahrah-e-Faisal.

What should I include in a Karachi address?

The street, and for DHA the phase and block. Two addresses in the same nominal district can be twenty minutes apart because of one-way systems.

Can you drive to Hyderabad or Sukkur?

Yes. The M-9 to Hyderabad is 136 km of motorway and about two and a half hours door to door, and the M-5 continues 392 km south to Sukkur.

Do you meet international arrivals?

Yes, inside the terminal with your name. There are no tourist SIM counters in arrivals and airport cash machines often decline foreign cards, so arranging the car in advance is the practical choice.

Is there a fixed airport taxi fare?

No published one. Three counters operate outside arrivals, White Cars, Metro Cars and Airport Taxis, and travel sources put them roughly at Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,200 by district, against Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,500 for the apps. Those figures are indicative and undated.

Will I know the driver before pickup?

Yes. Photograph and vehicle registration are sent in advance.

Is the quoted price final?

Yes, once quoted and accepted, for the journey or the day as described.

Tell us the journey and we will price it

Send the route, the date, the number of travelling and how many cases you have. You will get one price for the whole journey and the vehicle class it assumes. If we cannot cover it properly we will say so rather than take the booking.
