What shape is the journey?

This starts an itinerary enquiry, not a confirmed booking. Live prices, availability and payment remain unavailable until the secure iDrive API release gates pass.

What we commit to

Allama Iqbal International sits 15 km from the centre of Lahore and handles a little over six million passengers a year across three terminals: the main one for international and domestic traffic, a separate Hajj terminal and a cargo terminal, with seven airbridges. PIA, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Turkish are among the carriers, and the seasonal pilgrim surges through the Hajj terminal give the airport a rhythm no other Pakistani airport has.

The single most useful thing to know about it is the geography, and most first-time visitors get it backwards.

The airport is on the wrong side of the city

Allama Iqbal is on the eastern side of Lahore. That makes DHA and Cantt the near side, ten to twenty minutes in ordinary traffic, and it makes the Walled City, Anarkali and Mall Road the long haul right across town. Visitors who have booked a hotel near the Badshahi Mosque because it looked central are often surprised by the transfer time; visitors staying in DHA are pleasantly surprised.

Lahore Traffic Police reorganised the city into six management sectors in January 2025 and named the pinch points while doing it. The ones that affect airport transfers most are the airport-side cluster of Burki Road and DHA Phases 6 to 8, and, for anyone heading out of the city afterwards, Thokar Niaz Baig and the Motorway Naka on the far western edge. A transfer from the airport to a motorway departure crosses the entire city.

What actually happens when you land

Three things are true at every Pakistani airport and none of them appear in the brochure. There are no tourist SIM counters in arrivals, so a phone that worked at the departure gate has no data on landing. Airport cash machines frequently decline foreign cards. And the app-based options that look obvious from a laptop at home need both of those things working before a car will come.

Lahore adds a wrinkle of its own. The transfer time depends entirely on which side of the city you are going to, so an arriving passenger negotiating in the car park is negotiating without knowing whether the trip is fifteen minutes or an hour.

That is the argument for arranging the car before you fly. A driver waiting inside arrivals with your name does not require you to have a local number, mobile data or rupees in your pocket. We meet arriving passengers inside the terminal, and the driver’s photograph and the vehicle registration reach you before the car does.

Ground transport at the terminal

What exists outside arrivals is licensed taxis, plus whatever Yango, inDrive and Bykea drivers are working the rank. There is no published fare table for the airport and the transport page that covers it explicitly disclaims setting fares. As at Islamabad, the price is whatever you agree, and you are agreeing it in a car park after a flight.

Yango is the closest thing in Pakistan to a predictable upfront fare and it operates in Lahore. inDrive works the other way around: you name a price and drivers accept or counter it, which means there is no tariff to quote and no fixed rate to check against. Both are real options and both need a working phone and local payment, which brings you back to the SIM and the cash machine.

The honest price ladder

We would rather set out the whole market than pretend we are the only option. From cheapest to dearest, an airport transfer in Pakistan runs: public transport, then a Bykea bike, then inDrive or Yango, then a negotiated street taxi, then an airport radio cab, then a pre-booked chauffeur.

Lahore has the fullest app market of any Pakistani city, so the middle of that ladder is genuinely competitive here. It is also the part of the ladder that stops working the moment your phone has no data, which for an arriving international passenger is most of the time.

One thing is no longer on that ladder at all. Uber left Pakistan completely on 30 April 2024 and Careem suspended ride-hailing on 18 July 2025. Any guide still listing them is out of date, and a great many still do.

Hajj season and the Walled City run

Two things extend a Lahore transfer beyond the usual: pilgrim traffic around the Hajj terminal in season, and any destination on the western side of the city. If you are staying near the Walled City or heading straight for the M-2, tell us at the quote stage rather than at the kerb.

Tell us the journey and we will price it. A submitted request is not a booking until availability, price and terms are confirmed.

The journey in figures

Airport
Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE)
Distance
15 km to the city centre
Terminals

Which side of town
The eastern side, so DHA and Cantt are the near side and the Walled City is the long haul

Ground transport is licensed taxis outside arrivals plus inDrive, Yango and Bykea. No fare table is published by the airport. The Hajj terminal produces heavy seasonal surges that do not follow the normal arrivals pattern.

Every way of making this journey

We are one row in this table, and not the cheapest one. Here is what the alternatives actually cost and what each of them asks of you.

Option Typical cost Time What to know
inDrive or Yango 25 to 50 min inDrive prices are negotiated, so no rate can be quoted. Needs a local SIM and data on arrival.
Licensed airport taxi 25 to 50 min Negotiated at the rank. No published tariff.
iDrive.pk, car with a driver Quoted for your journey A fixed price once quoted, a vetted driver whose photo and vehicle registration you see before the journey, and a car sized to your party and luggage. Booked before you travel, so it does not depend on having a local SIM when you land.

Costs for other operators checked on August 31, 2026 and published from their own booking systems, official notices or named third-party sources. Fuel in Pakistan moved from Rs 264.61 a litre in September 2025 to Rs 343.10 by August 2026, so fares here move quickly. Treat these as a guide and confirm with the operator.

Which vehicle actually fits

Seat counts are the manufacturer figures. The passenger and luggage numbers beside them are what the vehicle carries in practice, with the cases people really travel with. If your party is near the limit, tell us the number of bags rather than the number of people, because that is what decides it.

  • Suzuki WagonR 3 passengers, 2 cases Short city transfers on a budget. The tall boot helps more than the engine does.
  • Toyota Yaris or Corolla 3 to 4 passengers, 2 to 3 large cases The workhorse. City work, airport transfers and the motorway run between Lahore and Islamabad.
  • Honda BR-V 5 passengers with luggage, or 7 with almost none Family airport transfers on paved routes. The third row eats the boot, so it suits children or short hops rather than seven adults with cases. Not a mountain vehicle.
  • Toyota Fortuner 5 passengers with full luggage, 7 travelling light Rough road and mountain work: Skardu, Hunza, Naran, Babusar. Ask for the diesel four-wheel-drive, because the petrol version is two-wheel-drive.
  • Toyota Land Cruiser 4 to 5 passengers with full luggage Protocol and expedition work, and a genuine choice for Skardu and Deosai. It returns 5 to 10 km a litre, which at Rs 343 a litre is the honest reason it costs what it costs.
  • Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin 13 passengers plus the driver The group and family vehicle. Gulf arrivals into Sialkot and Peshawar with heavy luggage, tour groups, weddings, long intercity runs.
  • Toyota Coaster 25 to 29 passengers with hold luggage Large groups, corporate shuttles and pilgrimage travel. Worth knowing that the motorway toll alone is Rs 3,350 each way against Rs 1,430 for a car.

How booking works

  1. 01 Tell us the journey Where from, where to, when, how many of you and how much luggage. Precise addresses matter more than you would think, because a Rawalpindi address and an Islamabad address twenty minutes apart are very different journeys.
  2. 02 We quote a fixed price One figure for the whole journey, with the vehicle class it assumes. If a motorway toll or a waiting period is part of it, you see that too.
  3. 03 You see the driver and the car Before the journey you get the driver photograph and the vehicle registration, so you know exactly who and what you are looking for.
  4. 04 You travel At an airport your driver waits inside arrivals with a name sign. Check the photograph and the registration plate against what we sent you before you get in.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Lahore airport from the city centre?

About 15 km. But the airport is on the east side, so DHA and Cantt are close and the Walled City, Anarkali and Mall Road are a run right across town.

How long does the transfer take?

Ten to twenty minutes to DHA or Cantt in ordinary traffic, considerably longer to the western side of the city. The Burki Road and DHA Phases 6 to 8 cluster is the local pressure point.

Is there an official airport taxi fare?

No. There is no published fare table for Allama Iqbal, and the transport page covering the airport explicitly disclaims setting fares. What is outside arrivals is licensed taxis plus app drivers.

Which ride-hailing apps work in Lahore?

inDrive, Yango and Bykea. Yango gives fixed or near-fixed upfront fares; inDrive works by passengers naming a price and drivers accepting or countering, so it has no published tariff. Uber and Careem no longer operate ride-hailing anywhere in Pakistan.

Where will the driver meet me?

Inside arrivals, with your name, and you will have had the driver’s photograph and the vehicle registration in advance.

Can I get a SIM card at the airport?

There are no tourist SIM counters in arrivals at Pakistani airports, and airport cash machines often decline foreign cards. Assume you will land without local data or cash.

Can you drive us on to Islamabad from the airport?

Yes. The M-2 starts at Thokar Niaz Baig on the far side of the city, so an airport-to-motorway transfer crosses Lahore end to end. Allow for that in the timing.

Do you cover the Hajj terminal?

Yes. Tell us which terminal you are arriving at, because pilgrim traffic in season changes both the meeting point and the time it takes to clear the airport.

What vehicle do I need for four people with luggage?

A full-size sedan handles three passengers with two large cases comfortably. Four adults with four cases is a seven-seater or a van, because the third row of a seven-seater takes the boot space.

Do you meet late-night arrivals?

Yes. Give the flight number and scheduled arrival with your request so the pickup is planned against the schedule.

Is the price fixed?

Yes, once quoted and accepted, for the journey as described. There is no meter and nothing to negotiate at the kerb.

Can you collect for a departure as well as an arrival?

Yes. For departures, tell us the check-in time you are aiming for rather than the flight time, and we will work back from it.

Tell us the journey and we will price it

Send the route, the date, the number of travelling and how many cases you have. You will get one price for the whole journey and the vehicle class it assumes. If we cannot cover it properly we will say so rather than take the booking.
