What this vehicle carries
- Passengers
- Seven on the specification sheet. Six adults travel comfortably; the rearmost pair of seats is best treated as occasional, for children or short hops.
- Luggage
- Two cabin bags with all seven seats occupied. Fold the rear bench and you have room for roughly four large cases.
- Fuel
- Petrol. 998cc in the base Karvaan, 1,193cc in the Karvaan Plus. Five-speed manual, front-wheel drive.
- Roads
- City and motorway at moderate pace, and metalled hill roads. Not for jeep track or unmetalled mountain sections — it is a front-wheel-drive van.
Luggage is stated in cases rather than litres, because that is the figure that decides whether a party fits. If you are near the limit, tell us the number of bags rather than the number of people.
Why people choose it
The Karvaan is the practical answer when you need seven seats without stepping up to a full van — a boxy, upright cabin that puts people where a saloon simply cannot. It is well suited to in-city family movement, wedding-party runs between venues, and shorter intercity legs where the priority is getting everyone into one vehicle. Vetted driver with photo and registration, and the price is fixed once we quote it.
What to know before you book it
Questions about this vehicle
How many people can actually travel in a Changan Karvaan?
Seven on the sheet. In practice six adults travel comfortably and the rearmost pair suits children rather than grown-ups. Count your passengers honestly before booking, because the last row and the luggage space are the same space. If you are six adults with cases, say so at the quote stage and we will confirm a vehicle that carries the load.
How much luggage fits in a Changan Karvaan?
With all seven seats occupied, two cabin bags and no more. The Karvaan has effectively no boot behind the last row. Fold the rear bench and it takes about four large cases. That is the honest trade-off in this vehicle: seven people, or luggage, not both. Plan your booking around one or the other.
Is the Changan Karvaan a 4x4?
No. The Karvaan is a light van with a 1.0 to 1.2 litre engine, and no four-wheel-drive version is offered on our fleet. It manages city roads, motorways at a moderate pace and metalled hill roads. It is not a jeep, and it should not be booked for unmetalled track, gravel climbs or snow.
Is the Karvaan suitable for Murree, Naran, Hunza or Skardu?
It copes with metalled hill roads at a measured pace, so tarmac routes such as Murree are within its range. It is not for jeep track. Loaded with seven people, a 1.0 to 1.2 litre engine works hard on long climbs. For rough northern legs, or anything off the metalled road, book a four-wheel-drive jeep instead.
Is a Karvaan comfortable on a long motorway journey?
It travels the motorway at a moderate pace, but it is a light van rather than a saloon: more noise, more sensitivity to crosswinds and slower overtaking. Six adults will be comfortable enough on a Lahore to Islamabad type run. For a full day at speed with a heavy load, a larger vehicle is the kinder choice.
What does "or similar" mean on a Karvaan booking?
It means the exact car shown may not be the one assigned, and a vehicle of the same class and seat count may be supplied instead. If the seven-seat layout or the folded-bench luggage space is essential to your journey, tell us when booking and we will confirm the specific vehicle in writing with your quote.
Can I hire a Karvaan with a driver, or self-drive?
idrive.pk arranges both chauffeur-driven and self-drive hire, and which applies to a particular Karvaan is confirmed with your quote. Chauffeur-driven is the usual choice for family travel and hill routes. Drivers on the platform are vetted, and you are given the driver's photo and registration details rather than just a phone number.
Can a Karvaan collect us from the airport?
Yes, and on airport journeys the driver meets you at arrivals rather than leaving you to find the car park. Size the booking by luggage, not seats: with seven people aboard there is room for cabin bags only. If you are arriving with checked suitcases, book a larger vehicle or add a second car.
What does the hire include - fuel, tolls and parking?
Whatever is included is set out in writing on your quote. We do not publish a blanket policy on fuel, tolls, parking or driver meals, because it varies by journey and duration. Ask at the quote stage and you will have it in writing before you commit. The price itself is fixed once quoted, and is worked out per route.
iDrive publishes a vehicle CLASS, and supplies this model or a similar approved vehicle in the same class. That is how the whole trade works here; we would rather say so than imply a specific registration is reserved for you.
