Questions about this class
Can the passenger stay in their own wheelchair for the journey?+
Only in a ramp-equipped converted van, where the chair is boarded occupied and then secured to anchor points in the floor. In a standard vehicle the passenger must transfer into a normal seat and the chair travels folded. We will tell you which of the two applies to your booking before you commit, because it is the difference between a journey that works and one that does not.
How do I know the vehicle will actually fit my chair?+
Give us three measurements when you request a quote: the overall width of the chair, its overall height with the passenger seated in it, and its weight, noting whether it is a manual or a powered chair. Powered chairs are considerably heavier and taller than most families expect. We check those figures against the specific vehicle rather than against a brochure, and we tell you the answer before the booking is accepted.
Is it a ramp or a lift?+
Ramps are far more common than powered lifts on vehicles operating in Pakistan. A ramp needs a reasonably level, firm surface at both ends to deploy safely, which is worth thinking about for older residential streets and unpaved approaches. We will confirm in writing which mechanism the assigned vehicle has, and we will not describe a vehicle as accessible on the strength of a wide door alone.
Can a family member or carer travel too?+
Yes. Say how many companions are travelling when you request the quote, because seating a wheelchair position and seating companions compete for the same floor space in a converted van. It is much better to establish that up front than at the kerb.
Is this an ambulance?+
No. This is assisted passenger transport, not medical transport. There is no clinical equipment and no medically trained attendant on board. If the passenger's condition needs monitoring, oxygen or a stretcher during the journey, please book an ambulance service instead of us.
Can you do an airport pickup?+
Yes, and for airport journeys your driver will meet and greet you at arrivals, which for a passenger with reduced mobility usually matters more than it does for anyone else. Tell us at booking whether the passenger will be arriving in an airline-provided chair or their own, because that changes what has to happen at the kerb.
Why does this page not list a price?+
Because an honest quote for an accessible journey depends on the access method, the chair, the number of companions and the route, and a headline figure would only mislead you. Once we have quoted your specific journey, that price is fixed.
What if you cannot meet the requirement?+
We will tell you. If your chair does not fit the vehicle, or the route or the pickup point will not allow a ramp to deploy safely, we would rather decline the journey and say why than accept it and leave a family stranded at a hospital entrance.
