Why people choose it
The Elantra is the newest nameplate in this class and is assembled in Pakistan by Hyundai Nishat. The current 1.6 Special Edition uses a 1,591cc petrol engine with a six-speed torque-converter automatic — a conventional automatic rather than the CVTs fitted to the Civic and the Corolla. It is also the least common of the four on Pakistani roads, which is exactly why some bookers choose it when they want the car to look different from every other saloon in the line.

On published boot volume the Elantra is the smallest of the three: 407 litres against 427 for the Honda Civic FE and 470 for the Corolla Altis. All three seat four passengers with a chauffeur. If luggage is what decides your booking, the Altis is the one to ask about; if it is not, the difference is academic.
Can I take a Hyundai Elantra to Skardu or the northern areas?
No. It is a city and motorway car, and not for Skardu or unsealed roads. It sits at normal saloon ride height with no four-wheel drive, so the broken and unsealed sections on the northern routes are outside what it should be asked to do. Ask us to quote a vehicle built for those roads.
Is the Elantra comfortable on a long motorway journey?
Yes. Long sealed-road journeys such as Lahore to Islamabad on the M-2 or Lahore to Multan on the M-5 are what it is for, with a chauffeur driving and up to four passengers. The one thing to plan around is the boot: two large cases and a cabin bag, not three.
